Due to lingering snow-covered areas on county roads and dangerously cold temperatures in the morning, North Callaway R-1 will be closed on Thursday, February 20. This will be a snow day and will be made up on Monday, March 24, 2025.
TLC will be open on February 20.

Congratulations to our FBLA District Champions!! Good luck to our state qualifiers!

Congratulations to our two girls wrestling state qualifiers. Elka Endres 4th place in districts and Brooke Giboney 3rd place in districts. Good Luck at State!!

Due to snow-covered county roads and gravel roads, additional snowfall this evening, and frigid overnight temperatures, there will be No School - AMI (Alternative Means of Instruction) Day on Wednesday, February 19. This is the district's final AMI day, meaning any future closures will require additional make-up days.
TLC (Thunderbird Learning Center) will remain open at the regular start time.

Due to the forecasted snowfall overnight and into tomorrow, along with very low temperatures, North Callaway R-1 will have an AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) Day on Tuesday, February 18. Elementary and middle school students should have received their assignments, while high school students can access their work using their Chromebooks.
TLC (Thunderbird Learning Center) will also be closed on Tuesday, February 18.

School will be closed on Thursday, February 13, and we will implement an AMI (Alternative Means of Instruction) day.
Rural lettered highways and county roads remain dangerous for travel. The district will be conducting another inclement weather survey to gather your input on our procedures. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of implementing a 2-hour late start and designated snow routes beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Expanding our options for inclement weather days could help reduce disruptions for families.
TLC - Thunderbird Learning Center will remain open on Thursday, February 13.
Thank you for your patience and support. I know this winter has been especially challenging, and I truly appreciate the trust you place in us to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

Due to the forecasted snow, North Callaway R-1 will not be in session on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. We will use Alternative Means of Instruction. K-8 students were sent home with work and High School students will complete the work assigned in Google Classroom. The Thunderbird Learning Center will not be open on 2/12/25.

We are celebrating National School Counseling Week and thank our school counselors, outreach counselors, and registrar for the tremendous impact they make to help students achieve school success and plan for their careers. #NSCW25 #ThunderbirdProud

Due to the frigid temperatures and projections of the wind chill being estimated at between -15 or -20 F, North Callaway R-1 will have an Alternative Means of Instruction (AMI) day on Tuesday, January 21. School will not be in session. Hatton-McCredie, Williamsburg, and Middle School students have all received packets of work from their teachers. High School students will use their Chromebooks for the AMI work.
TLC (Thunderbird Learning Center) will remain in session.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate a challenging winter.

This morning, NCMS rewarded 72 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students for being on grade level in reading or mathematics on their beginning-of-year iReady assessment. Students took this test near the beginning of the school year, which means many have already met their end-of-year goal! We are so proud of our Thunderbirds! Students were rewarded with donuts, juice and social time for their hard work.
NCMS will be iReady testing again next week, Jan. 20th - 24th. We can't wait to see our students' progress and growth towards their goals and celebrate their achievements! #ThunderbirdProud

We had hoped we could safely return to school tomorrow, but the National Weather Service has increased their confidence in the forecast, now indicating a high probability of snow overnight and into the morning, with the heaviest snowfall expected during bus pick-up hours. Many of our side roads still have significant issues, and additional snow will only make conditions worse.
As a result, school will not be in session on Friday, January 10. We will make up this snow day on March 17.
The Thunderbird Learning Center (TLC) will open at 9:00 a.m. However, this may change in the morning depending upon weather conditions.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
